2020 Skoda Kodiaq Design, Specs, Interior, and Price. The big SUV Skoda dresses with the Scout finish to accentuate its adventurer side. Available with the 4 × 4 transmission, this Kodiaq Scout is armed for escape, especially with the 190 hp 2.0 TDI engine.
The Scout label at Skoda has been deployed for a long time on the Octavia Combi which then benefits from technical developments such as increased ground clearance, underbody protection and 4 × 4 transmission. Skoda now inscribes its SUV in this lineage with the Karoq Scout just presented, and the Kodiaq Scout here on trial.
The new Kodiaq Scout has been available since spring 2018 and is recognizable by its aesthetic attributes such as the specific shields, silver-colored mirrors, and 19-inch Crater rims. The technical evolutions are minor: the ground clearance gains a handful of millimeters (194 instead of 187) and the underbody is streamlined for better protection.

The Scout version is only available on 4 × 4 versions, which implies a starting price of EUR 39,200 in the 2.0 TSI petrol version of 190hp DSG7 with 5 seats. Our test version with the diesel 190 TDI DSG7 190 TDI points to 43 180 EUR with 7-seat configuration. The price is more than 3,550 EUR to the Ambition finish, justified by the aesthetic attributes but also by a more complete standard equipment: leather/ Alcantara upholstery, Alcantara door panels, veined wood decorations, aluminum pedals, power steering progressive, driving modes and 19-inch wheels (instead of 17).
At more than 40 000 EUR, one can begin to be demanding on-road services. The first point of satisfaction with this Skoda Kodiaq comes from the 2.0 TDI with 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It “tows” the big SUV with vigor whatever the profile of the road and the load of the vehicle. A little too loud at low speed, the TDI puts his vocals once on the road and is well supported by the dual clutch DSG 7-speed. The latter is however not fast, but accelerate the pace is anyway not a good idea with this type of gear.
A family model with seven possible seats and a giant bunker, the Kodiaq is one of those SUVs that have replaced minivans. It is, therefore, necessary to adopt a proper behavior closer to that of a good rather than to a father in a hurry. The fairly heavy front axle does not encourage the pace and the Kodiaq is good where it is needed: space on board, safe driving, and soundproofing on the road. This Kodiaq TDI 190 is geared towards escape to the family and leisure. It adds a controlled consumption with 7.8 l/ 100 km observed during our route road and highway.
And the interest of this Scout in all this? Apart from the aesthetic aspect that distinguishes him from other Kodiaq and brings him a little more character, he takes advantage in series of the progressive direction more pleasant because of more fluid. It’s pretty much all about driving because it’s not 7mm extra ground clearance that will turn this 2020 Skoda Kodiaq Scout into a franchisor. The 19-inch wheels in series and the lack of damping piloted on our test model (option) do not favor the comfort we had found better on other versions.

Comfortable furniture, plenty of storage space and excellent habitability: the Kodiaq front cell is practical and easy to live with. The finish is to match.
No digital slab, even optional, and counters a little sad, too bad. The large touch screen is easy to use. The quality of the graphics is at the rendezvous. The decorative wood-veined inserts and Alcantara panels are reserved for this Scout finish. The front seats are excellent for maintenance. The Alcantara/ leather upholstery is typical of Scout. Saddlery also specific to the rear seats where the place does not miss. The banquet slides. The Kodiaq is a real mover! More than 2000 l of volume when it is in “break”. Row 3 is reserved for young children or as breakdown places. Always practical: the luggage cover is stored under the boot floor.
The big SUVs (often with 7 seats) are the new friends of the family and the competition is more and more difficult for the Kodiaq. The French Peugeot 5008, the German Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and the Japanese Nissan X-Trail run the same clientele. The legitimacy of Skoda in terms of spacious car for the family is well established. The Kodiaq adds competitive price/equipment positioning as shown in this new 2020 Skoda Kodiaq Scout version. It is also especially interesting for its aesthetic attributes that feel good adventure and its level of generous equipment.
