2022 Chrysler Aspen: Redesign, Release Date, Price, and Specs. All carmakers have switched to crossover, so we have no doubt Chrysler will go in the same way. At this point, there are just two models under this badged and none of them is a crossover. This should change soon, as the latest rumors suggest that the company is working on a new SUV, which could hit the market already in the next year. At this point, we don’t have the exact details about the new model. Still, many believe it could come as the 2022 Chrysler Aspen, though we have to say that a few other names seem like a possible option as well.

The Aspen is a relatively familiar nameplate, despite that the original version didn’t manage to make some spectacular sales numbers. That’s the reason why many believe the new SUV could use that nameplate. When it comes to base design characteristics, different sources suggest completely different approaches, so we will elaborate on them in the following paragraphs.

2022 Chrysler Aspen Engines

When it comes to the engine lineup, all powertrain options are in the game. This includes both old and proven engines, as well as some brand-new options. Still, we somehow believe that the 2022 Chrysler Aspen will rather focus on more sophisticated powertrain options, so we presume that large-displacement units would be skipped in this case. A 2.0-liter turbo-four seems like an obvious choice for the base engine. When it comes to higher trim levels, with higher output, we don’t expect to see large V8 units. Instead, we count on a new turbo inline-six engine, which has been under development. Allegedly, the engine will come in a couple of output variants, where the most powerful one should be good for about 525 horsepower. Finally, we count on some form of electrification as well.

2022 Chrysler Aspen Design

As we’ve just mentioned, different design approaches are possible in the case of 2022 Chrysler Aspen. For example, we can already find reports that suggest the new Chrysler SUV could be based on Jeep Grand Commander. That’s because it is designed for the Chinese market if you’re not familiar with this model. It is a three-row crossover with around 110 inches in wheelbase, which rides on the company’s familiar Compact Wide platform.

We presume the first thing that would be changed is the size if the new 2022 Chrysler Aspen is about to share some design solutions with this model. We presume that the wheelbase would be stretched, in order to accommodate passengers in the third row more comfortably. Of course, we would see a completely different styling and interior design as well, probably with a lot of inspiration taken from the recently-updated Pacifica.

What About Grand Cherokee?

Another option that has been talked about is to see a new 2022 Chrysler Aspen based on Grand Cherokee. This seems more logical to us, as the new generation of the legendary SUV is on the way and it is about to become bigger and better in many aspects. This would be a perfect basis for a more luxurious crossover that would come under Chrysler’s badge.

Of all, this model would be significantly bigger and more than capable of accommodating 7 passengers in a comfortable fashion. The new models would ride on the Giorgio platform, which would mean excellent handling and driving experience, while the RWD layout seems like a natural choice for a crossover that tends to be luxurious. The relationship with Grand Cherokee would be tight, as mechanics would be almost identical.

Styling and Interior Design

No matter the design approach, aesthetics would go in the same direction and that direction is pretty much familiar. Of course, we are talking about the new design language, which has been presented with the updated Pacifica. The new version of popular minivan came with a new, bolder styling, which resembles SUV design solutions a lot. We presume the new 2022 Chrysler Aspen would come with a similar approach, at least when it comes to the front end. On the other side, the rest of the body should come in a typical SUV manner, with a wagon-like layout.

When it comes to the interior design, the first thing that comes to mind is that the new 2022 Chrysler Aspen will probably be a three-row crossover. At this point, it’s hard to talk about anything more precise. We count on an upscale cabin, full of quality materials and loaded with all kinds of tech goodies.

2022 Chrysler Aspen Release Date and Price

The 2022 Chrysler Aspen is just a rumor at the moment and as we are waiting for more details about it, we can only speculate. Some sources suggest the new model could arrive already in the next year. However, the company is still quiet on this matter. We expect more details in the near future.
