2023 Chevy Silverado Electric Pickup Confirmed 400 Miles of Range. The upcoming 2023 Chevy Silverado Electric is officially taking place. This model will be produced in Michigan, in the same factory as the GMC Hummer EV. Not surprisingly, but Silverado Electric and Hummer EV will share a ton of similarities. That includes the same battery pack, which is great to hear.
Chevy will build an electric version of its Silverado pickup truck. It will be integrated in the same factory as the GMC Hummer EV truck and SUV models. We expect it to arrive in 2023 or 2024 and the electric model will be sold alongside the gas-powered Silverado.
We knew it was an inevitability, and now we have confirmation that Chevy will build an electric version of its Silverado pickup truck. Ready to be built at the same factory as the GMC Hummer EV truck and SUV models, this upcoming Chevy EV will go up against the upcoming electric Ford F-150 and the countless other electric trucks promised to hit the market soon. GM claims that it will offer up to 400 miles of range on a single charge, and it will feature the company’s Ultium battery packs.
Chevy also said that the electric Silverado will be offered in both work-oriented fleet and snazzier retail versions. Its impending arrival won’t affect the gasoline-powered Silverado for now, as Chevy says that it is planning an update for the current internal-combustion Silverado lineup, likely for the 2022 model year.
We first heard tell of an electric Chevy pickup in 2015, and saw a possible design prototype for this new model in the background of a GM presentation a few months ago. It will likely be offered with multiple powertrain configurations and battery-pack sizes. The Hummer, for reference, will offer one-, two-, and three-motor drivetrains, and the Ultium battery packs range up to a 200.0-kWh capacity.
Chevy has yet to provide a timeline for when production will start on the Silverado EV. We think it will be sometime in 2023 or 2024 given the planned rollout of the Hummer truck and SUV models. GM has said that it will offer 30 new electric models by 2025, and that two thirds of those will be available in North America.
2023 Silverado Electric Will Look More Upright
At this moment, we understand almost nothing about the design of the 2023 Chevy Silverado Electric. The most reputable sources are predicting a truck that looks more attractive than the regular Silverado. Chevrolet will redesign the front fascia and it will provide a closed grille. A similar thing can be found on the upcoming F-150 Electric pickup truck.
The Silverado EV will switch to the same platform that underpins the brand-new GMC Hummer EV truck. This means the all-electric variant of the Silverado model won’t use a body-on-frame structure like the regular Silverado. Thanks to that, this model will provide various battery sizes and improved ride quality.
The interior of the 2023 Chevy Silverado Electric will also share a lot of things with the Hummer EV. A new platform should provide even more space inside the cabin. At this point, we don’t have any info about the truck’s interior design. Logically, a whole interior will be based on the regular Silverado model. On the other hand, we expect to see more modern features and more luxury.
That should include more premium materials, a new infotainment system, and the latest driver-assistance aids. We can’t say this truck will offer larger displays or some other improvements. However, Silverado Electric will deliver features such as Electric Parking Brake Assist, Hill Start Assist, and Trailer Sway Control system.
This is another mystery, as no one knows how will the 2023 Chevy Silverado Electric perform. We can assume the Silverado truck will borrow a thing or two from the GMC Hummer EV. Because of that, Silverado will introduce multiple powertrain options and battery sizes. Most likely, Chevy will also offer variants with single, dual, and triple motors.
Like Hummer EV, Silverado Electric will deploy the same Ultium 200-kWh battery pack with 400 miles of driving range on a single charge. This is not official yet, so we’ll have to wait a number of months for more details. That includes various powertrain specs, including the power, towing capacity, and charging time.
2023 Chevy Silverado Electric Release Date, Price
The brand-new 2023 Chevy Silverado Electric will hit the dealerships eventually next year. More than likely, this truck will take place sale in the second half of 2022. It will be very interesting to see the competition in the electric truck segment.
That includes models such as Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, and Ford F-150 EV. The price is not available, and it will remain a mystery for the next number of months. GM also revealed the brand’s goal is to offer up to 30 electric models in the next four years.
